Hello, my name is Cath Rivron.
I am a vet (BVSc) that sees behavioural cases in Oamaru, Timaru and Dunedin.
Welcome to Veterinary Behavioural Therapy.
I studied Veterinary Science at the University of Liverpool, UK, graduating in 2010. While completing my studies I was fortunate enough to spend time studying with Sarah Heath, a prominent Veterinary Behaviourist in the UK. Since then I have worked for 3 years in private general practice in NZ, furthering my interest in animal behaviour where I could. In early 2014 I left mixed practice to concentrate solely on pet behaviour problems and set up Veterinary Behavioural Therapy.
I am a member of the New Zealand Veterinary Association and Association of Pet Dog Trainers of New Zealand. I am the Oamaru coordinator for Canine Friends Pet Therapy so please contact me if you are interested in becoming a visitor with your dog.
I am originally from Cardiff, Wales and now live in Oamaru with my husband on our sheep and beef farm. We are the proud owners of a retired racing Greyhound – Willow – he has a blog “Willow’s Word … off the couch“. Willow is a Canine Friend (visitor) for Canine Friends Pet Therapy and an expert at “zoomies”. We also have a cat called Smee who can do “sit” and “paw”.
Veterinary behaviour is an important and growing field of veterinary medicine so it is exciting to be able to offer this service in the South Island. I look forward to meeting you and your pets.
Please note: I have a particular passionate interest in the field of Veterinary Behavioural Medicine but I am NOT a registered Specialist. If you are looking for a Veterinary (Behavioural) Specialist please look here, VCNZ.
